Can you change the color of your hydrangea's by adding baking powder or alum?

  1. The color has to do with the ph level in the soil and the aluminum , it may be possible to change the color if it is in a container, otherwise is a little harder. And keep in mind that not all varieties change color.

    If it is pink and you want it a blue hydrangea,  try aluminum sulfate around the hydrangeas.

    If it is blue and you want pink you should use dolomitic lime and a  fertilizer with high levels of phosphorus.


  2. yes changing the pH of the soil will change the color, b/c it is an indicator
