Can you change the color of your hydrangea's by adding baking powder or alum?

Like Clabber Girl baking powder or alum like you would have in your spice cabinet?

The color has to do with the ph level in the soil and the aluminum , it may be possible to change the color if it is in a container, otherwise is a little harder. And keep in mind that not all varieties change color.

If it is pink and you want it a blue hydrangea,  try aluminum sulfate around the hydrangeas.

If it is blue and you want pink you should use dolomitic lime and a  fertilizer with high levels of phosphorus.
