Can you charge VAT on an invoice for sponsorship?

I've got to invoice another company for sponsorship of an event we're putting on. Should I charge them VAT on that?

  1. Yes, you are providing a service (the event) for which they are paying....


  2. If your vat registered I would presume you have to charge vat.
