Can you check your bags on european trains like you can for airlines?

i am going from monterosso italy to nice france with a connection in genoa. can i check my bags in genoa on the train and retrieve them at a baggage claim area in nice, or is this service not provided by european trains?

Depends, Checking is availible on some services, it would be best to check with FS (Italian Rail) and SNCF (French Rail)
