You can get put wherever they need you most, so I could end up moving half way across the country. Is there a way to apply so I would get to work at the RCMP detachment near me?

  1. Yes, if you join the RCMP I can still choose where I want to work.

However, if that's not really what you were asking, let me refer you to this:

  2. In most circumstances, the new rookie is placed where he will get the best training and can be used well.

There may be several areas that fulfill this. Talk to the RCMP recruiter and discuss any and all options.

If nothing else, find out how much time you would need to be able to apply for a transfer to the area of your own choosing. (Usually after getting off probation).

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you
