OK so I don't like onion very much. I like the flavor when cooked but i don't like to have big chunks in my food. I also don't like chopping onions, so i put one in the blender and it basically shredded it very fine and it seems kinda like mush. would this still be okay to use for flavor? I think i would like the texture because it seems like i wont even know i am eating onions but will the small shreds be bad in something like lasagna? would they cook okay

  1. yes i make homemade salsa that way but you still have to cut it in chunks first and it will get pasty if you blend too long

  2. it is fine for most dishes but to put in lasagna ,me personally i would not do becuase lasagna does not get onion . but you are the one eating it so you do as you think you would like food taste is up to you ,good luck and good eating

  3. It will become mush and add the flavour and you will not notice the pieces.

  4. I use this method to get the kids to eat onions all the time.  That onion that you are calling 'mush' is fine to use for anything.  If you ever decide to use it in somthing like tuna salad, drain it well on a paper towel first.  Also, this method works good to hiding carrots and such in food to feed to kids! You would be shocked!

(did you know you can hide shredded (finely) carrots into browning and never know it?  just make sure and COMPLETELY mush them)

  5. It'll dissolve and be just fine.

  6. buy a device called the magic bullet.

it can do any job in 10 sec or less although

it cost about 90 somthing dolars.it great for almost

any thing and take up the space no more than 2 regular

    coffy mugs stack.

    hope i helped?

  7. When you mash it up, it gets liquidy.  It won't hurt anything as long as the extra liquid doesn't harm whatever you're cooking.  Putting it in spaghetti sauce is fine.

There's "onion powder" with the spices at the supermarket, if you want onion flavor.  It's not as good as real onions.

  8. It will be fine, but you might want to cut back on the amount of onion you use like that in some things, the flavor is much stronger when blended.  I grate onion for use in meatloaf and such and also for sandwich fillings.

  9. I'm the same way, and don't like the chunckiness, and I can't chop them up into tiny pieces either  first of all because it takes too long, and secondly because it makes my eyes burn like crazy.....

I blend mine up in this mini-sized chopper that I have....and it does make it mushy, but it blends in well with the foods I make and gives me that flavor that I love

    Good Luck!
