Question:

Can you claim on warranty for a second time? Faulty Clutch!!?

The clutch on my car needed replacing a few months ago, and i paid out £150 on repairing from my local mechanic. There was a fault with that one too, and he replaced it free of charge as it was under 1 year warranty.

Now the clutch seems to be acting up again. If this one needs repairing/ replacing...will it be covered under warranty again?

Thanks in advance

  1. yea

  2. If it is still under warranty yes.

  3. Perhaps your garage man isn't very clever. If he won't agree to repair/replace the clutch without charge take it somewhere else. Either he is fitting cr*p clutches or he isn't replacing the oil seal which leaks oil onto the new clutch. My instinct would be to go to a specialist who fits Ferodo clutches and does them all day and every day.

  4. If it has a warranty you can claim it unless there are limitations in the contract. I can tell you I have never heard of a clutch plate being warrantied. That's a good deal.

  5. That really depends.

You don't say how old you are.. how long ago you had passed your test etc.

One of the biggest wearing parts for new drivers is the clutch, just because it is 'ridden' by new drivers. i.e. you drive with your foot on the peddle without depressing it. This can mean a clutch can wear down in less than 6 months (or 6000 miles)

It is unusual for clutches to be faulty just due to the design.. but two faulty within a year is a bit suspicious.

So although there may be an issue with the clutch.. I would look at how you are driving also as if it is you, it is not covered under warranty.

  6. i your car brand new?     if it is then your car dealership will honor your new clutch for free.    I f you had a one year warranty for the part that the mechanic installed only then that too should be under warranty as well.   it doesn't really matter how nany times they fix it , if it doesn/t last the full year then you get it replaced for free.   good luck and don't pay for your next clutch, it should be free!!

  7. Has the warranty expired on the first clutch? if it has, then possibly your not covered as you only got one year cover for one payment, but If It's not you, and were faulty clutches fitted, then as someone already said go to C.A.B. ....

  8. Yes! Demand your rights!

  9. I would think so.  The repairman should honor it

  10. Should be.  Seems like a faulty clutch or faulty workmanship.

If he kicks up, check out your local Trading Standards (your Council should be able to give you the info) for full info on consumer rights and quote those to him!

  11. if it's still within a year then yes
