  1. only if you want to get laughed at. Dressage is a formal schooling and requires formal dress

  2. ditto i Agree. chaps are for working with animals or worn in rodeo's. not for dressage!you would be disqualified immediately

  3. I think you could get away with half chaps, but full chaps would be looked down upon, even in local shows.

  4. That depends what they look like. If they look very like gaiters they could be allowed. They would need to be completely plain smooth leather without any decoration and the same colour as your boots, just like the rules for gaiters. If they have the zip on the outside of the calf and/or the elasticated ruches as most chaps do, then possibly not. Basically, they should look as much like long boots as possible. If you are going to compete unaffiliated, then it might be ok - you could ask the organiser; if you're going to do affiliated then chaps are not permitted. What are the make & model?

  5. i wouldnt if i were you but check the rule book of the show to be sure!

  6. Unless you're in a schooling show where show clothes are not a requirement, you must show in breeches, boots, show shirt, dressage coat, and the whole deal. There are some schooling shows that do not require show attire, just boots and helmets, but those are mostly very early in the show season, and sometimes few and far between. Check with the show officials before you get there. But plan on wearing the whole dressage outfit.

  7. Yep of course you will. You can compete in leather chaps BSJA, British eventing ect all top shows plus at local level. I have a pair of really smart leather chaps i show jump, dressage and cross country on my pony in them. They are fine ! Good luck at your shows =] But they have to be formal and smart .. so expensive ones at good gaiter copys

  8. Dressage is done in jodhpurs and jacket, I don't believe you can compete in chaps.  Its a formal performance by the horse I therefore you have to also be dressed formally, chaps are not formal.

  9. No.  Jodphurs, long boots, jacket, tie and white gloves.  And a hat of course.
