I just wondered if there is a limit to age when competing at the Olympics. Would a 48 year old woman be able to compete if she was able to make the mark to gain entrance to the olympics. Thankyou.

  1. If you can make the mark at age 48 years old (and pass a drug test), then you can compete in the Olympics.

  2. The IOC doesn't impose age limits on entrance into the Olympics. Each sports governing body imposes its own rules. In Track and Field no age limit is imposed (whereas Gymnastics rules state an athlete must be 16 before the end of the Olympic year).

So, to answer your question, yes. A 48 year old woman would be able to compete if she was able to make the mark to gain entrance to the olympics.

    I hope this helps.

    Enjoy!

  3. If one wants to compete with the kids and qualifies better than they do, then she deserved to represent the country in the Olympics. However  she will  have to have great stamina for  running two events with all the heats required to reach the finals. There was a 42 year old woman who did quite well in the swimming event.

  4. There is no upper age limit.

Although you have to be very good to pass the Olympic trials and be allowed to compete.

Older people will tend to be at a huge disadvantage.

  5. There's no age limit, though will your body be able to take it ?
