Can you connect the power supply of a pair of PC speakers to a car battery?

  1. Your question needs clearing up.

    1. Speakers are AC devices, meaning this is what is used to cause excursion of the speaker(moving in and out)

    The amplifier that drives the speakers is a DC device, meaning when you plug it into the wall (An AC source) it converts the AC to DC for the Power supply and circuits of the amplifier, which in turn amplfy a small ac signal such as a turntable, or cd player, in turn get played out of the speakers.

    The answer is NO, you cannot connect a power supply to another power supply. Did you mean can you connected an amplifier to a car battery to run speakers? The answer could be yes...if the power supply to the amplifier (assuming it is a wallwart type) is 12 VDC then it will work.


  2. I'm not 100% on this, but you can't because the car battery has a DC (direct current) while your speakers run on AC (alternating current) from the wall. Good luck, though.
