Can you contribute to a campaign while living abroad (and earning foreign currency)?

For the next year (or two), I'll be working abroad. While abroad, can I contribute to a political campaign-- especially since I am being paid in foreign currency?

When you remit money it is converted to USD.  I can't imagine there'd be any problem (assuming you maintain a checking account) of transferring money from a foreign account to your domestic checking and then cutting a check.  Many people pay their domestic bills this way.
