Question:

Can you convert a wooden pool table to slate?

I have a pretty cheap pool table but it's in good condition. Only thing is, it's not slate. I was wondering if there was a way to replace the wooden bed for a piece of slate? Is that the only difference or is there more to it.

  1. I'm with them above, it's going to be cheaper and safer (that's a lot of weight to fall on your legs) to buy another table than to modify the one that you have. I would say sell yours rather than trash it though ! I'll look for it on ebay !

  2. You might be able to do it, but would it be worth it.?

If you try something like that make sure the structure is good, make sure it can handle the weight, and get some prices,  to see if it's worth it, or you can buy a nice used one.

  3. First, remove the cloth, rails, bed and legs of the table. Then chuck them all in the trash and buy a good table.

Seriously, I doubt a table with a slatetron or honeycomb bed is structurally built to handle the weight of slate. Plus, I doubt you could just buy pieces of slate, unless you happen to find someone with a table that's totally trashed and is just looking to get rid of it.
