If yes, how long do you boil them and does it make them mushy or are they like steamed?

  1. Why do you want  boiled as opposed to steamed? Steaming is in a couple of inches of water in a tall stock pot. Boiling would mean you are covering the clams with water. Either way they are the same consistency and you wait until they open. Only cook enough at a time to be able to stir them a bit. If the clam is open or cracked before cooking, it is dead, or could make you sick, throw it out. You can strain the broth for chowder.

  2. yes you can. you just wait for them to open up and that's it.

if you see clams not opened, that means its a bad clam. just throw those away.

seafood are always cooked in fast, easy ways.

  3. it doesnt take long at all to cook clams in boiling water, they will open up when they are cooked.
