  1. No needs to be cooked in water.

  2. I have never tried this but my instinct is NO!

Steaming works principally by heating the food up - it doesn't actually absorb that much water from the steam.

Dry pasta absorbs a LOT of water in the cooking process and needs room to circulate.

You will be left with a sticky mass of glued together pasta at the bottom of your steam,

  3. doubt it

  4. Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick, the most recent addition to the Calphalon line, makes it easy to enjoy healthy cooking and will inspire you to entertain and experiment with new recipes worth sharing. This pasta insert fits the 8-qt. stockpot in the Contemporary Nonstick line. It features a slight taper to allow easy penetration of steam and water to food without sticking to sides of pot. Two sturdy handles let you swiftly lift the insert for draining. Large capacity holds enough for a crowd.

  5. Nope! Needs to boiled, the steam isn't enough water to be able to cook the pasta.
