Can you cook with or even microwave salad dressing?

A couple of ideas, but I was wondering, if you have a meal and salad dressing (either italian or ranch or just some kind of creamy dressing) is poured over it or on it, can you still put that meal in the fridge and reheat or microwave it later.

Even better, can you actually use salad dressing, say creamy italian or ranch dressing as a type of cooking sauce without it going bad or getting sick or anything, can you reheat meals that have those dressing or sauces?

  1. I cooked a chicken breast covered with Caesar dressing (homemade) in the oven for 50 minutes this week and it was great with a salad and garlic bread. I didn't even marinate it, but that would probably be even better!

As long as the dressing stays cold or unopened before you use it and then the food that you've cooked with it doesn't sit out too long, you can reheat it no problem!

  2. Yes, they're fine.  In fact, Italian dressing is often used as a marinade.  I have a broccoli casserole dish that we love that uses mayo or Miracle Whip.

    Enjoy them as you wish!

  3. we always marinate our steaks in zesty italian dressing.mmmmmm!!

for at least 8 hours. after they are barbequed, there's never any leftovers to reheat. I have also marinated chicken in it. It's good too.

I have dipped chicken in ranch dressing then a coating of shake & bake. bake it & it's good too. It's good reheated too

  4. Sure.

I marinate meat in dressing all the time and cook it on the grill, bake it or fry it on the stove.

I generally use the oil based dressings, not the creamy ones.
