Can you cross a lake breeze front by foot? because i was just down the block with southwest?

winds, and i walked back to the east the winds were dead calm kept going and the winds were east

  1. Yes, it's possible.  It's most likely moving faster than you can walk so you would have had the same effect if you were standing still.  It is a sharp feature like that where the windshift would be noted over a short distance/time.

    Another possibility is that it was a gravity wave.  If you are near mountains and a cold front moved through in the last several hours, this can happen.  Do you think a cold front moved through recently?  Did you see lines of clouds in a very regular pattern above you?  It would look like a row of clouds, then a mile of two of clear, then another row of clouds etc.
