Can you curl your hair with any straightening iron?

i'm thinking of buying a straightener but i don't want to get one that's really expensive like the chi ones. My main concern is that i'll be able to curl my hair with it because i like the look of it better than a curling iron.

and yes you can use it to curl your hair by following these steps

1-Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo, and apply a good conditioner. Make sure you hair is completely dry before you begin.

2- Apply a styling lotion or liquid gel. Use one that has thermal protection to protect the hair from the heat.

3- Part the hair into sections no wider than the straightening iron, and comb any tangles out of the section.

4-Clamp the iron at the end of the section, and curl it upward, working very slowly. Hold the flat iron in place in the curled position for about 6 seconds, and slowly uncurl the flat iron and remove it carefully from your hair.

5- Continue to curl the hair section by section until the entire head is curled. Spritz the curls lightly with hairspray to control frizz and help preserve the curls longer.

  2. Here's a link to a Youtube video that shows how to do it with a GVP.

  3. your straightening iron has to have a thermaline.

  4. When my hair was long I used the Con-air brand ceramic curling iron with a 1 1/2" thick wand.I was able ti straighten and curl. You say you like the curl better with a straightener so I think the money would be worth it.I know they're pricey but I've had friends swear by the Chi brands too.It depends on how long you want your product to last too.

  5. The more expensive ones are the best for curling hair. I have a really good one, mind you that isn't a chi(can't remember the name) and it cost me about 120.00. I tried with my cheap straightner once, but it didn't work out too well, plus it was a plastic, boxy, 30dollar one. But that's my experience and opinion.

  6. get the solia, it can curl wave and everything ! :DD its also cheaper.

  7. yes, i can.

    check youtube girl!

  8. I have a pair of  1'' Gold-N-Hot ceramic flat irons and I'm able to curl my hair with them. I think I paid about $25 for them and the heat up to about 400.

It's sort of complicated in the beginning to learn how to curl with them because it's a certain way you have to turn then and slide them down your hair to achieve the curl. You also can't hold them too tight nor too loosely.  With some practice you'll definitely perfect it. Good Luck :)
