Can you cut off the ankle part of shin guards like theses? (PICTURE)?

I want to cut off the ankle part of these addidas shin guards i have but i dont know if i should..

I suppose you could but if you want shinpads without the ankle guard then you should get a design like this:

It is really up to you if you have an ankle guard on your shinpads or not, i find the ankle guard gets in the way when controlling the ball and you can run faster without it.

I don't know if it helps but I think Umbro make shinguards with detachable ankle guards
