I was driving my dad's car today and had the volume turned all the way up and then it started to sound weird! Could I have messed it up?

  1. as long as the sound is not distorted while plaing you will not damage the speakers. If the music was distorted then you broke it.

  2. yes you can burst them but why should you have it up so loud driving how could you hear a emergency vehicle behind you

  3. Yeah.

It will sound like theirs no bass at all. and they will be all high pitched sounding if the amp is blown. (most likely)

  4. The worst case the speaker may be blown.

It usually sounds like a rattling sound in my experience.

  5. yes they can if they play at distorted levels for too long....if u have an amp that's too powerful and it distorts then they'll also get f'ed up

  6. Well the guy that told you no doesnt know what the h**l hes talking about and I dont mean any disrespect to him.  I dont care how perfectly matched your amps are with the system if you run to much bass threw your speakers,  it causes them to flex to much and sometimes some speakers will overheat and start to distort.  If you are playing them to loud with to much bass in the speakers then yes you can mess them up and even blow them

Since its your dads car Im going to assumer everything in the car is stock.  regular speakers in a car are not made to run bass.  They are made to run Mid range and high frequences.  So if you were playing them loud with a lot of bass for a while and they started to sound bad, you probably did mess them up.  By the way Ive done car audio proffesionally for over 7 years now.  So the idiot that said no, definatly shouldnt be answering car audio questions, because its clear he doesnt know what hes talking about.  No disrespect to anyone

  7. If the speakers and the amp (radio) were correctly matched then no.

But if they are after market radio and/or speakers, they are often not matched and easily blown.

But just like you can blow your speakers, you can easily hurt your hearing.  MY best budd is suffering from hearing loss because he played his music so loud.   It is so sad to have to repeat so many things to him.

    Good Luck...
