  1. No, you clip their nails. Chopping off parts of their toes is completely unacceptable and nothing short of animal cruelty. Did you know declawing is illegal in most places outside of the US? We're behind.

  2. yes, with a pair of needle nose pliers

  3. It's a LOT different than spaying or neutering. It's MUTILATION that does the animal no good. Don't get ANY animal declawed, ever.

As for legal issues - being legal doesn't make it humane. Declawing cats is legal in the US but not in England.

  4. that's animal cruelity. if it scratches you it's your own fault from separtating it from the wild

  5. well i use to have guinea pigs when i was i think 7 or 8 and we never declawed them or cut there nails. anways why would you there nails arent long and dont hurt a guinea pig will never hurt you unless they are really frightend and if you just choose to cut there nails every once in a while be very care ful they get frightend real easily and might try to run and you may end up hurting it

  6. No

  7. There is no declawing procedure for small pets. This is only done to cats (and unfairly so.)  If your small pet's nails are too sharp, there are a few ways you can dull them/trim them to make them comfortable for you to hold.  One way is to use a brick and put it under the water bottle.  This will file the nails down when they drink and play on it.  The other thing to do is use a pair of small pet nail clippers from your pet store and trim them. Be very careful.  With small pets, it's easy to clip the nail too short, causing extreme pain and bleeding.  Use styptic powder to stop bleeding if this accidentally happens. Also be careful in how you restrain them. It's easy to accidently break a small animal's leg when they're struggling.

  8. Probably, but I wouldnt suggest it. Small animals like that dont do well knocked out during surgery. Too much of that medicine and they can die. Not enough, and they wake up during and are in serious pain. I suggest you just clip the nails with something that files them down or have the vet do it. Its very cheap and affective. Good luck.

  9. I guess you can declaw anything. But don't do this. Please? It's done to cats and frankly, I think that is cruel. Contrary to popular belief, it is very painful.

  10. No, it is inhumane and cruel.
