  1. I've never used grapeseed oil for deep-frying, simply because it's quite expensive to use in quantity. But it works very well for shallow frying and doesn't burn easily. I use it for delicate flavoured fish because it has such a mild flavour.

So you certainly could use it for deep frying if you were feeling rich enough, or had a ready supply. =)

Since I realise everything I've said above contradicts your first answerer, here's a bit of back-up from Waitrose supermarket's glossary of oils ...

    Grapeseed oil

A very light oil which is best used in cooking.

Uses: It can be heated to high temperatures without the subtle flavour spoiling so is suitable for deep or shallow frying. It has very little flavour and so is ideal for cooking subtly flavoured foods such as fish.

To store: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Here's the link to the whole glossary page -- lots of useful info on all sorts of oils: http://www.waitrose.com/food/cookingandr...

  2. It's not a very good oil to fry with:

One it has a very distinct flavor that doesn't work with most fried foods ie french fries, chicken fingers, etc etc.

Two it has a relatively low smoke point so you can't take it to a temperature high enough to give it a good fry like you can with peanut oils that have a much higher smoke point.
