  1. transition is from move to move

submission is using several different techniques to make an opponent "tap out" these techniques can cause fatal damage if a person does not tap, therefore the person will eventualy submit or tap.

a reversal is of a move such as if someone went for a submission, they could reverse the move into a move of there own.

an escape is breaking out a move

  2. Good answers here:

Transition: This actually the space of time or motion between one move to another. You hear this term a lot in grappling as far as to do escapes during transitions, or working on transitions. Basically it is the space in time between moving between any two positions. So it would be more like "I am in side mount" I transition (meaning begin moving) then finish in "Top mount" the transition is that time and movement in between. Similarly between take downs, and being in a successful dominant position there a "Transition" from standing to ground work. Basically those gaps of times between positions are your transitions. If you were to imagine a car going from point A to point B. The drive in between point A to point B would be your transition.

So yes while you typically "transition" from one position to another. The transition is the space between those positions.

Submission: Any move or technique that requires your opponent to verbally or physically submit from. Most often are moves that would either cripple, or render unconscious, or cause an extreme amount of pain. Submissions are typically joint locks, chokes, and cranks.

Reversal: Again pretty well gone through, but to be a bit more thorough a reversal requires you to be in bad position, and then turn that bad position into a dominant position. ie. "I was on bottom, I reversed him now I am on top." or "He put me in an armbar, I did a reversal now he is in an armbar, or bad position"

Which is important because it means you reversed things as opposed to...

Escape: Any time you are able to get out of a bad position, but not necessarily end up in a dominant position. i.e. "He was on top of me punching, I escaped his mount and we are now standing" or "He attempted an armbar and I escaped, however he is still in a dominant position". An escape is simply getting out of a bad position, but ending up in a less bad position or a neutral position. It differs from Reversals because you do not end up in a dominant or good position, rather a position that is not as bad, or neutral.

    Hope that helps...

  3. Maybe examples will help("simple terms"):

Transition: I moved from a "side hold down" to "sitting on top of my opponent"

Submission: Dang near broke his elbow before he "tapped" AKA Submitted

Reversal: Opponent was on top, but I was able to reverse him and now I am on top.

Escape: He almost broke my elbow, but I was able to escape the submission.

    Hope this helps.

  4. If you're wanting to know from a amateur wrestling perspective.

Reversal: I was on bottom but now I'm on top

Escape: I was on bottom and now we are both standing or in neutral position

Submission: In MMA I made a guy tap out* not in amateur wrestling

Transition: A move that led to another move

  5. transition, from one move to another

submission, are you serious you dont know this one?

reversal, counter attack of some move

escape, getting out of someones submission
