Can you delete a pool in Sims2?

Question

when i go to the pool tool...adn press control and drag over it (as you woulddo to delete a wall) it says pools can not be deleted.

I think you have to go into the build option and delete it the way you'd delete a wall (I think it's by holding down the shift key and clicking on the squares, but I'm not sure.)
