  1. Well, the average number house of sun for each month breaks down like this:

    January: 3.8

    February: 5.0

    March: 5.7

    April: 7.3

    May: 8.2

    June: 9.3

    July: 10.2

    August: 9.1

    September: 6.9

    October: 5.8

    November: 4.1

    December: 3.6

But this is dependent on both cloud cover and the length of the day.  The best you can do is use these numbers to estimate the average number of hours of cloud cover during the day by subtracting the number from the length of the day for each month.  If you then divide by the average length of the day for each month...you will get the % of time it is cloudy during daylight hours in Calgary for each month.  Here I've assumed the average length of day for each month occurs in the middle of the month...the 15th (see second source below).  So the result is:

    January: 55%

    February: 50%

    March: 52%

    April: 47%

    May: 47%

    June: 44%

    July: 37%

    August: 37%

    September: 45%

    October: 46%

    November: 54%

    December: 55%

So on average, it is cloudy 47% of the daylight hours in Calgary, with generally more sunshine in the summer months than the winter.
