Can you design your own tattoo?

Do tattoo artists allow you to draw your own tattoo or do they have to draw it or pick it out of a catalogue?

For my first tattoo, I brought in my custom design. The artist copied it on special paper and away we went. A stencil can be created from your design but depending on the shading/detail in your drawing, it may need to be redrawn before made into a stencil.

tattoo artist will do whatever u want,whether u bring in a picture or a drawing,if they dont think it will look good they will always give u suggestions on what they would do with it to make it look better and more presentable,but the option is always up to u,most people take there advice.no matter what they always do there own drawing so it can go on a stencile
