Can you develop a coldsore if you have never been in contact with one before?

Just wondering if coldsores were only developable through touching, or if you could get them through some other way.

Coldsores on your mouth btw.

Yes you can. Most cold sores are actually caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox.  It is a form of the herpes virus. It may be the same herpes that causes genital herpes or it may not. Once you have had chicken pox the virus is always in your body somewhere, usually inactive. You can get cold sores, fever blisters, when you are run down or even a bit sick from almost anything

If you have a cold sore only touch it with clean hands and wash  them after medicating a cold sore. Don't kiss anyone if it is on your lips.  Basically, just keep it clean and don't touch anyone after touching the sore, especially if it is oozing.

There are medications that claim to help these heal faster. Some you can get without a prescription and some need a script.

Taking vitamin C can also help as this helps build up your immune system.
