Can you differentiate a monocot plant from a dicot plant by looking at the stem? How?

  1. Yes, dicots will have their vascular bundles (xylem and phloem) in a central ring.  Monocot vascular bundles are spread out randomly in the stem.

    This is assuming you are looking at a cross section of the stem through a microscope.


  2. I always see their leaf  venations. Monocots -Parallel and dicots- Netted. The below link helps you well with photos
