  1. Depends on what you're actually looking at.

If it's a formal program--online or other--then it'd be tough, but depending on the strength of the student, possibly do-able.

If you're simply homeschooling, the only things you'd really have to "do" 2 years of would be math and make sure reading and writing skills were extended. In high school, sure, you'd have to make sure to speed up on the other courses.

The whole idea of spending 360 days in a school year to do 2 years of school is probably do-able, but not necessary. A full day of homeschooling accomplished far more than a full day of being at school; you wouldn't need double the school year to get it all done.

  2. theoretically yes. the average school year is 180 days which is half a year.

so yes basically, you could be able to do 2 grades in 360 days.

  3. I did that. So, yeah. :)

  4. Compacting the curriculum is pretty common among homeschoolers with advanced/gifted students. There's often a fair amount of repetition & review built into curriculum, which may be fine for the average student but is very tedious for bright ones. By skipping unnecessary review, it is often very easy to get through 2 years' worth of curriculum in a single year.

  5. NARHS  has an average graduation after 2.5 years.  You just have to get through the work.  It depends on your motivation level and your program.  Most highschools have an early graduation option, to get a year ahead.

There are many possiblilities.  Good luck with your choice :D

  6. I dont know about all boards, but with CIE (which is what im doing), you can answer your exam whenever you like- early late, whenever you're ready! You could check out the site below.

  7. It is possible even though it would be tough. I have done some home school courses because of my chronic pain, and they have been fairly challenging, so most likely you would have to spend much more time per day doing schooling than you would have to doing just one grade in a year.

  8. With sonlight you probably could. If they got all the concepts. What they do at least through 6th grade is they sell a package to use for 2 years. They give you a lesson plan to follow for 36 weeks but it includes all the material you need for say 1 and 2nd grade. Take a look at it you might be able to use them to do the 2 years in one. www.sonlight.com

  9. Of course! Even if you fo nor do it in summer!

  10. With homeschool you can do as much as you want whenever you want to. There are unschooled highschoolers who have done four years in one year to get ready for college. Learning isn't hard until someone teaches you that it is.

We did an entire year in four months, and that was with only working two hours a day. If we did the six or seven hours that public schools hold, we probably would have been done in a month, so technically we *could* have done seven or eight grades within one calendar year. But what's the point of that, right? You also have to take into consideration the maturity of the child. Yeah, my first grader could have done seven grades, but would she have understood the concepts of algebra and trig? LOL!

  11. Yes, it is possible.
