  1. nope. not a thing. you usually just have to let those things work themselves out. i broke my toe, and it really sucks. but they eventually heal on their own. of course if it doesnt get better within the month, you might want to get it checked out. it will be sore for a while and probably will hurt to walk on though... good luck

  2. no tight shoes.  Warm water soaks only after getting the swelling under control.  That may consist of ice packs and such.

If it's broken though you may have to have it set.  There are joints within the toe that can either dislocate or you can suffer from a fracture.  You don't want your toe to heal in an abnormal position.  You'll face more problems later on.

You also need to be cognisant of circulatory problems.  The bluish color may well be part of the inflammation process but having a fracture impede blood flow is another issue all together.

So, if you think u broke it, you have to confirm it.  Either way, it deserves that much attention.  Get an xray bud.

Edit:  I just read the above comment.  You shouldn't tape the toe or splint this toe to anything.  Your toe is going through the phase where the swelling can get worse.  So until the swelling is complete, you don't want to constrict it with tape.
