  1. Yes, you can.

Many transwomen begin electro/Laser before starting hormone therapy; but any good trichologist will tell you that it becomes much easier, and more effective, once you have a significant amount of oestrogen in your system.

  2. Absolutely, I did.  Diane is right, it does seem to work much better after the testosterone levels drop significantly, but it also depends on how much testosterone and estrogen your body manufactures to begin with.  We are all different.  I never had much facial hair to begin with, and my testosterone levels were low and estrogen was high, so mine was an easy fix.  I never had laser, only electrolysis.  While laser is quicker, it still won't eliminate the light hairs and I'm still not sure how permanent it is.  I think that also depends a lot on your body chemistry.  All said, if you intend to transition, start hair removal now, don't wait.

PS: If you decide on electrolysis, be very careful that you find someone who has good references.  It's really easy for the electrologist to use too low of temperatures and pull live roots so that you end up spending way too much money (not to mention the pain).  Also, if they use too high of temp, it can cause severe scaring.  So be pro-active in finding a good person to work with.
