  1. george is right, do not trust sat nav with trucks. tom tom do have a bridge download but you need to change your card for a bigger one and it is a pain to do, do what george does.

i agree george just got out of it after 20 years, c**p job c**p conditions, 60 hours a week, and everyone thinks your thick.they have no idea. get out mate, work in morrisons.

  2. It depands on what kind of GPS system you have and what kind of software yourr sat nav have got. But if you really want to know this, you could check the manual or just go to its website (which might be on the manual).

  3. It would depend on the type of GPS you have and the software that is available for the unit, check with the manufacturer...............................

  4. There's a suggestion for the map makers to finally get into the 21st century!! I dont know if the Highways Agency have any details.

Do not rely on the sat nav in any way, they are only as good as the software installed, and are not "idiot proof".  Your best bet for bridge heights in the UK is the A.A "Trucker's" road atlas. it shows all bridge heights. - Beware if there have been re-surfacing works though as the road could be up to 3 inches higher. I used to swear by the "Collins" atlas, but I have just started with a firm who only pull trailers of between 15 ft & 16 ft, so all my routes have to be planned with more detail than with "Euro spec" 4 metre trailers. I can't afford the fine for a "bridge strike". The majority of weight restrictions have a proviso so deliveries can be made, just look out for time restrictions, as the "Yellow peril" will get you!! Roads we have previously gone down have suddenly sprouted weight restriction signs, usually some way down, so it is impossible to turn a 44 tonne 6 axle truck round, & we have to carry on regardless! then, you always get some adenoidal whinger saying " There's a weight limit you know!!" while trying to write the registation number, so they can complain to some one who gives a toss!!
