Can you download videos from a video camera when you do not have the software for the camera?

i bought a vivatar video cam from HSN recently and it did not have the disc with it. And, HSN has none and you won't believe this but Vivitar says they have none either!

I like the camera and it was a good price. I need to send it back in the next 2 days to get full credit or keep it and get some credit for no software.

If I can download it in my computer anyway, I will keep it. (my grandkids are coming here in a week).

any help is appreciated.

  1. It's this the camera from HSN?

It records to a removable SD memory card, so you can use a USB memory card reader (like this - http://www.hsn.com/net2-products/sandisk... ) to download photos/videos to your computer...just be sure that you do not record to the camera's internal memory, or you may have problems transferring these photos/videos.

As for basic photo manager/editor, you can download Google's Picasa for free:  http://picasa.google.com/

    - and Windows Media Player should be able to play the video files.
