  1. There is no way to get window XP anymore unless you get a harddrive from an different computer and put it in yours becuase window stop making Window XP like a month go and only produce vista.

if you do get a copy of window XP yes you could isntall it to your computer.

  2. You buy a copy of windows XP (*cough cough* or download it *cough* *cough), you put the disk in, follow the instructions....and that's it.

  3. you can buy xp for your computer  from walmart or target. Get the ultimate or basic xp unless your going to be doing office work in that case just get the office edition. Also dont listen to anyone about getting vista because since your computer is pretty old it either wont be able to run it or if it does it will go very slow in addition to that vista still has problems and xp is visually closer to 98 so you wont have problems learning how to work your way around

  4. You can totally install Windows XP on your current comupter, but if you but am OEM version, it will cost about $100-ish. So it won't really be worth it, and your computer would be really slow. So I would personally invest in another computer rather than buy a version of the XP.

  5. Well you could just upgrade your ME computer to XP, but it would probably be very slow, due to the fact that ME and XP have different system requirements. But if I were you, I would just buy a new computer and join the rest of the world with XP.

    XP System Requirements:

PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor)

    * Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*

Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

CD-ROM or DVD drive (DVD not required)

Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

  6. Installing Windows XP is a time-consuming, lengthy process. I would just give up on the website if I were you, however you can still do it relatively easily.

First thing you need to do is buy a copy of Windows XP. Ever since Microsoft discontinued it, this may be harder than it sounds. You could also download it from a torrent site, but this is illegal.

Anyways, let's just say you manage to get a copy of Windows XP. The first thing you need to do is back up EVERYTHING on your computer. Put all your files and music and whatnot onto a DVD-RW or several flash memory drives or some Zip disks. When you install Windows XP, you will have to wipe clean the hard drive and format it. Everything will be erased, so make sure you have a backup copy of anything you want to keep.

Installing the OS is pretty straitforward. This is a good article that I followed to help me re-install Windows XP on my computer:

A word of advice: do a clean install of Windows, DO NOT select "upgrade" from Windows Me to XP. This will make your computer unbelievably slow and unstable.  And, before you install the operating system, make sure you know what devices you have; you may need to re-install the drivers later on. Hope it goes well. Good luck.

  7. You can install Windows XP. You'll need the installation disk, i believe.

You can get it at any Computer store.

I'm not sure how my brother did it, but we used to have windows ME, and now we have XP.

  8. You can buy a Windows XP installation CD and install it on your computer.  Wal-Mart still sells Windows XP (until it's sold out).  You can still buy Windows XP online at certain resellers' websites.

Your computer should meet or exceed the following specifications in order to run Windows XP well are:

The minimum hardware requirements for Windows XP Home Edition are:

•Pentium 233 MHz processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)

•At least 64 MB of RAM (128 MB is recommended)

•At least 1.5 GB of available space on the hard disk

    •CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

•Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device

•Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x  600)or higher resolution

    •Sound card

    •Speakers or headphones

The minimum hardware requirements for Windows XP Professional include:

•Pentium 233 MHz processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)

•At least 64 MB of RAM (128 MB is recommended)

•At least 1.5 GB of available space on the hard disk

    •CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

•Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device

•Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution

    •Sound card

    •Speakers or headphones

The 'real world' requirements are a bit higher:

    •500 MHz processor or faster

•At least 256 megabytes (MB) of RAM

•At least 5 GB of available space on the hard disk

    •CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

    •Keyboard

    •Mouse

    •SVGA video adapter/monitor at (1024 x 768)/32-bit color

    •Sound card

    •Speakers or headphones

  9. Folks..... this is why so many people recycle good computers!

  10. yes you can update your computer to XP if you have ME just put in the disk and it should give you the options to upgrade your "OS" Operating System
