Can you drink WATER before a BLOOD TEST?

They told me to fast before the test, but is water ok?

  1. Water is OK if it's for a blood test only. But water only, no coffee or anything!


  2. If it's a Lipid profile or a Chem panel, then water's fine.  Just call the physician or the lab and double check that water is okay.  But unless it's something odd they're looking for, water is okay.
