  1. You need the right permits.  I believe in most states you need to have the gun and bullets seperated from each other.  I use to have a knife that was easily accessible in my truck along with a baseball bat.  I didn't want to be fumbling around for a gun if I needed it.  Yes, I have used my baseball bat on someone in a rest area trying to rob me with a knife.  He lost! lol.

  2. Surely in Georgia you need more than just a handgun for your personal protection?

  3. You may NOT carry a firearm in the cab of your tractor trailer... and you you may NOT carry alcohol in the cab of your tractor trailer.

This is all explained in the Federal Motor Carriers "handbook".

You will be in serious trouble if caught with either.

  4. Although companies tell you carrying a fire arm in a CMV is illegal per the FMCSR, there is not a ruling in the book that I can find stating such. If some one can post the ruling numbers I'll stand corrected.

Most, if not all companies prohibit the carrying of fire arms in the trucks for a variety of reasons.

Each state and each municipality has there own regulations on this matter. Trying to keep them all strait is just about impossible, especially given the number of different jurisdictions a driver travels through on a given day.

If you have a Georgia concealed weapons (or carry) permit and don't travel out of the state. Providing Georgia doesn't have some obscure law prohibiting it, you should be OK.

  5. there are no Federal regulations for carrying firearms in a commercial vehicle.  All laws governing this are left up to each individual state. A good place to check th state laws is through the NRA.  These links will tell you

  6. Gun laws vary from state to state. Whats legal in one state will get you tossed in jail in another, like New York. My suggestion is unless you carry super high value cargo, leave the piece at home. A bat, tire thumper or a four cell Maglight make for good self defense. A handgun could be viewed as carrying a concealed weapon if it's in the glove box.

Strongly advise against it. Or make sure you KNOW what the gun laws are in the states you plan to visit.

Those who wish to carry hidden weapons in their cars should get concealed carry permits.

A BILL to allow concealed handguns in cars blew threw the Georgia House on Monday, but police agencies are rightly concerned the measure could endanger officers making traffic stops.

Current law allows those who have gun permits - but not concealed carry licenses - to carry a firearm in plain view or in the glove box or center console in their cars.

    House Bill 89.
