  1. you can, but dont think its good. better to do 3rd....then 4th on straights

  2. yes

  3. h**l I can drive in 2nd gear to 70 mph then straight into 5th gear. Not that I recommend that if you don't know what you are doing.

Or I can get my car in 5th gear at about 38 mph. So yeah 4th gear at 28 mph is probably doable. 28 would seem to me to be a bit low for 4th But it might work. I guess it depends on your car. Give it a try and see what happens.

If you just  want to drive 28 mph in 4th, I might suggest you go a little faster. Then shift to 4th and let your car slow down to 28 mph.

  4. s absolutely u can ....

  5. Yes do it quite often

  6. Yes.  But only after passing your driving test.

  7. yep i do it all the time . i also go from third to fith

  8. Absolutely yes. It's called 'block changing' and as it shows gear awareness when driving will gain maximum points if used in a driving test. You need to be aware of the power range in each gear otherwise things may get a little lurchy if mistimed!

    Practise makes perfect.

Try 1st to 3rd, or even 2nd to 5th if you are careering downhill with the wind behind you!

  9. Yes you can. Depending on your car it will be easy or difficult. I don't recommend driving a Lambo or Posche in 4th gear at 28 mph. Please don't do it during a driving test, you will fail immediately!

  10. Sure. My CBR 1000 hits around 110 in second gear then I pull the clutch in and go to sixth gear to calm the beast.

  11. Ofcourse,it is known as "block changing". I do it all the time.

  12. Yep.

I dont reccomend doing it during a driving test though!!

  13. Yes.

I was led to believe that that is what driving examiners expect to see when someone pulls away and knows they will be in a 30mph zone for a while. Whey bother with 3rd gear in that situation?

Additional: Hurray for thumbs-downing fuckwits who know everything, eh?

Additional v2: Haha! READ THIS, MORONS!

  14. At 28 mph I'm still in 1st.

  15. easy

  16. Yes but you'll be wasting a shot for some great acceleration from 3rd to 4th. And you'll take forever to get up to decent speed for 4th gear.

And don't try it on a hill, it won't work.

  17. no! but you could go to 3rd!

  18. of course you can

  19. Yes,

as long as you have enough revs behind it so you don't stall...

  20. Yes it is possible but should you not already be in third at 28 mph?
