Can you drive when your 15 1/2 in CA??

im 15 1/2 and i wonder if you can go DMV and get a permit.. also, do you drive with instructor or can you just drive with a parent?? i already have a flight instructor.. dont wanna go through driving instructor.. also, what do you have to do before you get your permit

In Calif you can drive at 15 1/2 yrs.  You can receive a license at 16, if you have had a permit 6 months. Check the attached link for other restrictions on signatures and driver's education etc.Most 15 yr olds memorize the qualifications....DMV is working at a snail's pace these days and in So Cal you cannot stand in line after 4pm...also no Saturdays.

In order to get your permit at 15 1/2 you need to complete all the necessary bookwork (i suggest doing it online rather than taking it as a class), you need to be signed up for driving classes with an instructor, and then you can go to the dmv and take the permit test. After you get your permit, you can drive with your parents in the car even if you havent takin the driving lessons yet.
