  1. I don't think they die if you put them in water.. but if you flush them they are out of you way=]

  2. They won't live on humans anyway. They'll bite you and then jump off. But on a pet, if you use a very, very mild dish soap, you can suffocate them. I'm not sure if it kills them, but it stops  them moving for long enough to comb them out.

  3. Have your house fumigated, rugs vacuumed, wash clothing in hot water, and take your cat to the groomers to get de-flea'd with flea shampoo, not dips.

24 hours later, apply Frontline plus to your cat. Fleas are the menace to any household and will make your life miserable. Fleas love crawling on me and don't like to get off, so I use these measures.

  4. They don't stay on humans any longer than it takes to bite them usually.   On the Cats, you can use soapy water which may drowned them.  Using plain water will not drowned them because the surface tension of the water won't allow it to get into the spiracles that the fleas breath through.  The Soap allows the surface tension to be broken by the insect and the water drowns it.

The cat will get re-infested (and humans can get bitten) though unless you kill the adults in the carpet and the eggs which drop off and are all over in the carpet, cat bed, cracks in the floor, etc.  You will either have to treat the floor/carpet/bed etc or use an insecticide on the cat which had a residual effect.  The products with the active ingredient "fipronil" are the best out there.

  5. Cat fleas do not stay on a humans legs. They bite and fall off.
