Can you dry tie dyed shirts?

I am babysitting 3 little kids tonight. We are making some tie dyed shirts I was wondering if there was any way I would be able to put them in the dryer to dry them faster. I know they are going to be excited to see the finished shirts, but I also don't want to make a huge mess in the dryer. I bought a tie dye kit by tulip.

  1. The way I always used to do it at camp was to dye them, then stick them in a bucket of cold water, wring them out, then let them dry on a fence or line. Usually they will be dry by an hour or 2. Tell the kids that waiting is half the fun. Have fun!

  2. Most of the kits I have used suggested to let the shirt line dry . Unless your box is different ;)))

  3. You don't have to wash the shirts first if you don't want to. When I tie dye with my kids at school I never wash the shirts first and hey turn out fine. You may want to put them in a plastic zip lock bag for 24 hours before you untie them. The dye will take to the fabric better. Then you can rinse them and wash them right away if you want. I know it's hard to wait to see what the shirts will look like, but your colors will end up better if you do.
