Can you dye a T-shirt with a graphic already on in?

Question

I had a shirt that got terribly stained, so i bleached it completely. now i have a white T-shirt that i would like to be black, but there is a big graphic on the middle of the shirt. will the dye effect the graphic ( i would think it would) and if it will is there a way i can dye it or am i outta luck?

if its plastic its okay but if its in the tread it will die out
