  1. i've been told that u can not.

  2. I'm half way through my hairdressing qualification. You can have your hair coloured during your pregnancy, most good hairdressers will insist on a skin test 24 -48 hours before you have the colour to check you don't have a reaction (this is because your hormones in your skin change during pregnancy), some hairdressers will not do this test but I would highly recommend it and if you have a reaction don't have it done. Some hairdressers will also not do it at all just because of the possible risks. No one knows for sure if it's safe to have your hair coloured but that also means that it's not been proven to harm the baby.

I'll be working with hair colour every day when I go back to college in September and I'm 23 weeks pregnant, also I'm wanting to have mine done but I'm just going to try and wait as long as I can just incase there are any side effects.

Oh yeah should just say I think your talking about foil highlights aren't you? If so as they aren't going directly onto your scalp then you should be fine just make sure the room is well ventilated if you do go ahead

Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy

  3. yes you can get it done

the further into your pregnancy tho and it might not take coz of the hormones you produce in pregnancy

  4. i doubt it will bring any harm x

  5. yes!

I asked my midwife - who said.....Yes, you need to feel good about yourself! My hairdresser said there is no problem with it, just that some types of dye don't 'take' as well when you are pregnant as your hair changes slightly.  Enjoy relaxing trips to the hairdressers whilst you can....it won't be long before you are trying to fit it round feeding, and then trying to get a toddler to sit still for a hair cut, so it turns out to be more like an aerobic class rather than relaxation therapy!!!

    Mum of 4!

  6. yes you can

  7. It's been proven now that it's pretty much safe, but usually to be on the safe side, most doctors recommend not doing it in the first trimester. And always do it in a well ventilated room. =]

  8. You can dye your hair but your not suppose to bleach it.

  9. Absolutely yes.   Modern hair colourants are fine just as long as you use them in a well ventilated area and do not swallow them.  As ridiculous as that sounds.

Think about it - LOTS of women colour their hair and work as hairdressers when they are pregnant - even when they don't know they are pregnant yet - and they have healthy babies.

If it was a truly dangerous procedure you would be asked to sign a release before you had anything done at the hairdressers, and there would be widespread general warnings about not having your hair done whilst pregnant.

I've been a midwife for a very long time and my husband is an OBGYN and we have never known any maternity patients (myself included) to experience any complications as a result of having their hair coloured.

  10. yes u can dye ur hair while pregnant. I know a lot of woman who have dyed their hair while pregnant and everything was fine. It is recommended that you dye it in a well vented room so the chemicals wont be that bad but it is safe

  11. yes, you can.

I did have one hairdresser say no but have confirmed with 3 other hairdressers since that it is perfectly safe. I've just had mine done a few days ago!

God knows you need something to feel good about yourself when you're pregnant...

  12. Your not suppose to because of all the chemicals and the smell of it.

But I dyed my hair every month when i was pregnant.

    =]

  13. They say not to until you are over 3 months gone, that is only because the smell may make you queasy.  I am just over four months and cant stand it any longer am going on Saturday - cant wait!

  14. You can dye your hair while pregnant but wait until after your first trimester.  That is when the most harm can come to the baby.

  15. I have been told yes and no.  My cousin does hair and told me it would be completely fine to get my hair highlighted while I was pregnant.  But in my case I just decided to wait until after I had her.

  16. a hairdresser will probably tell you it's safe but the truth is, no one knows for sure... if you're really concerned then the best thing to do is to play it safe and not dye your hair until your baby is born.

  17. yes

  18. While you can color your hair you need to be careful what you use. Caustic chemical vapors will do nothing good for you or your baby, not to mention you could make yourself nauseous.

    Try these:

Best: Henna or indigo plant based colors which are beautiful and safe

    (hennaforhair.com)

Somewhat effective : Water or vegetable based dyes (sallys beauty supply carries them)

Effective but less healthy: Semi permanent haircolor with low peroxide has less of a chance of having caustic ammonia/chemicals in it but is still not as healthy as the above options. (Natural instincts or clairol deposit only color glosses)

It's funny how you can never get a straight answer, yet it is understandable. Just because there have been few cases of issues with hair coloring and bleaching, it does not mean that it is worth risking yourself being in that 1%. Doctor's are cautious by nature, so it makes sense for them to run with this message...no one wants to be liable and very few studies have been done to see the true answer.

  19. no i dont think your suppose to.

  20. from what ive been told that if you dye you while pregnant it can make it fall out.

  21. My doctor said that if you are just getting highlights, to go ahead and do it. But, if you are dying all of your hair, to wait until after the baby's born. There's no scientific proof that it can harm the baby, but why take the chance?

  22. I know that when you're pregnant you're supposed to stay as far away from bleach as possible.  I've also read that if you MUST dye your hair while pregnant you need to stay at least 1/4 inch away from the roots, and make sure to do so in a well ventilated room.

  23. You sure can, just make sure the room is well ventilated though :)

Some say that dyes, perms etc may not stick whist pregnant, but I did both, and had no problems at all :)

  24. no..its gonna affect the baby's brains..

  25. Yes you can.

Why wouldn't you be able to?

  26. I did with my 1st and there were no problems whatsoever.
