well technically,  yes  you  can..  It would sustain you  if you had  to survive. Or  if  you  just  like snake... Other wise  I just leave  em alone  as they are harmless and beneficial  to  us.

To answer your cooking question... I would slit  it down  the belly and remove  the internal organs, then skin  it. Then wash  it really good  and cut  into 1 to 2 inch pieces.  then  soak  it  in salt water  in the fridge  over night, drain  and  pat dry,   then dip  it in a beaten egg or two, and  roll in  crushed seasoned cracker crumbs. Then  deep fry  it  at 350 degrees  for 5  to 7 minutes  or till golden brown. Drain off grease  on paper towels  or  a rack.. That  is how  I cook rattler. so It  would  work.. Yummm
