I was thinking about adding some fried tofu to my daughters lunch along with some dipping sauce. Is it good to eat cold? I have never made it before.

  1. you could eat tofu hot or cold, it doesnt matter, but it only lasts 5-7 in the refrigorator, oh yea, you have to drain the water out of the box before you use the tofu

  2. Both young ladies are correct, and in Japan there is a place in Tokyo that serves 23 different tofu dishes, and 10 are cold or chilled.

I like it in the summer as they are refreshing and do not heat up the house, I make a sauce with sliced ginger and garlic, some veggie broth, Japanese rice wine vinegar, low sodium soya sauce, sugar or sweetener, a Japanese 7 pepper spice, Yuzu juice ( Japanese citrus juice), some chili flakes and a bit of sesame oil, I blend all the ingredients and warm it in the microwave and let the ginger and garlic steep for 1/2 an hour, then strain and keep in the frig.

I take medium or firm tofu cut it into smallish squares and let it marinade at room temp for 1 hour and then pop it back in the frig, I like to make a seaweed salad with the same dressing, add a few bean sprouts and toasted sesame seeds, some vanilla soya milk for a cold drink and I am set, and you would not believe how filling it can be, any more help I can be let me know.

  3. That sounds like an excellent lunch!
