Can you eat overdue lasagna?

We have a box of lasagna in the freezer. It's meant to be frozen and cooked later.

It's overdue date is JANUARY 2008.

My mom decided to cook it up and eat it, even though it's AUGUST.

Is it harmful to eat after she cooks the lasagna?

She's baked it for three hours or so.

Thanks.

  1. So she's bought lasagne, then cooked it for 3 hours.

Your mum can't cook anyway, though seeing as you've lived this long, I doubt it will kill you.

You may break a few teeth on it though.

  2. As long as it's been kept frozen it's perfectly safe to eat, but 3 hours seems a bit long to cook a lasagna.

  3. That's a "Best By" date, not a "You-Will-Die-If-You-Eat-This-After-Jan2... date.  If it's been kept frozen, it's fine. 3 hours in the oven would kill any harmful pathogens anyway.

  4. OF COURSE IT IS HARMFUL IT IS ALREADY OUTDATED.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT WILL BE THE EFFECT

BUT IF YOU EAT  THOSE I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT YOU WILL HAVE A LBM OR LOST BOWEL MOVEMENT,STOMACH CRAMPS MAYBE

YOU WOULD NOT RISK OR TRADE YOURSELF JUST A PIECE OF LASAGNA WOULD YOU?

    I WERE YOU

    BUY ANOTHER ONE.THE NEW ONE

    OK

  5. It is perfectly safe to eat.  The date indicates the best quality will be enjoyed before Jan. '08.  Things do tend to dehydrate somewhat in the freezer, even with commercial packaging.

  6. No it is not harmful.

    Eat up!

Most dates are for quality standards and not safety.

But frozen foods are very safe much longer than the Exp. date. But again it is a quality issue.

#&* 3 hours?! HOW WAS THE SHOE LEATHER LASAGNA?
