Can you effectly take turns rununing different anti virus in your PC?

  1. You can't have more than one antivirus program on your computer at a time because of the different virus definitions.  Therefore, you would have to install one, run the scan, remove it, install another, scan, remove it, etc.


  2. You can take turns running different non-resident, antivirus scanners. But there would be no point in taking turns running different resident antivirus protection programs, since the point of such programs is to stop viruses as they act.

    You do not want more than one anti-virus program providing resident protection at the same time. I would recommend picking one that provides virus, spyware, and malware protection, handling both file, email, web, and IM. I personally use Avast, but there are many good products.


  3. As long as an antivirus program is not running at the same time as another antivirus program there will not be any conflict.  You have to make sure that the previous is disabled and out of memory before you want to run the second though.

    With antispyware they won't conflict so you can run as many as you want at a time.  Just keep in mind the more you run the slower the system will end up going.

  4. It's usually best to purchase the best antivirus on the market. I prefer Bitdefender.
