Can you encounter evil spirits while astral projecting or having an OBE?

David Morehouse in his book "Psychic Warrior" (link below) describes meeting I believe what he called dark entities during his time with the government sponsored Remote Viewing program. So, some people that have actually engaged in (eliminating all psuedoskeptics) remote viewing have reported encountering what could be called evil spirits.

Astral Projection is an older term (mostly outdated) that carries some religious indications beliefs with it such as projecting the soul. Most parapsychologist eliminate this consideration to only study the observed phenomena and now call it Remote Viewing.

Despite the psuedoskeptics that post on YA saying there is no scientific evidence either due their ignorance or wishing to purposely misinform others while claiming to be dedicated to science there is ample evidence.

Jessica Utts in her government sponsored evaluation of remote viewing concludes:

"Using the standards applied to any other area of science, it is concluded that psychic functioning has been well established. The statistical results of the studies examined are far beyond what is expected by chance. Arguments that these results could be due to methodological flaws in the experiments are soundly refuted. Effects of similar magnitude to those found in government-sponsored research at SRI and SAIC have been replicated at a number of laboratories across the world. Such consistency cannot be readily explained by claims of flaws or fraud."

No---the evil only exists in your mind.  Spirits will not harm you but be careful--they may cause you to harm yourself.

Definitely you can encounter evil entities and spirits when you astral project or have an OBE.

It is very important to protect your spirit and your body when doing this. One of the easiest ways is before you start, imagine that you are filled and covered with a beautiful pure white light. Hold that light both in your body and in your spirit when you travel. It helps to protect you from anything entering your body or your spirit while you travel.

Fortunately, nature has a built in protection method as well. You have probably noticed - (or heard stories) about when people see something that frightens them during the experience, that they instantly fling back into their body. This helps keep them safe as well.

That's a religious question. Astral projection is something that we have no compelling evidence for and there isn't a real good reason to believe in it, scientifically speaking. As Wushu said, sleep paralysis or mere vivid dreams can account for astral projection anecdotes. As far as encountering evil spirits, we can't even show that evil spirits, or spirits at all, exist.  The answers you'll get to your question will be as varied as the religious beliefs of people are.

Wrong, wrong, all of you, wrong!  Evil is real, both here and in the spirit world!  NEVER willing engage in astral projecting, I beg of you!  I've known people who have suffered greatly by messing with these things.  Please don't risk it.

IMHO, you can encounter anything, much the same as you can when in a normal state of conciousness.

Can they harm you? Not if you are properly protected. But then, if you are astral projecting, you should be grounding and protecting every day as a matter of routine.

They always recommend that you Ground and Protect every day and everynight, this will help you. No, I do not think that anything can harm you. If you are shown anything "evil" it is for the lessons learned.
