I'm from the U.S., and I think we did... okay.

Obviously Phelps was glorious, Bryan Clay did us proud, our gymnasts did well but our track athletes were mostly disappointing. The softball team that was supposed to be unbeatable was... beat. Our boxers were knocked out, except for the one nobody expected to get anywhere! We did so-so, I think.

Canada won 18 medals which was decent, but only 3 gold is kinda sad and 1 gold was in Horse jumping

umm new zealand.. 21st on medal count.

and considering that our population is around 4million.. we done awesome.. because just one city in America is more than our population its awesome...

we got 3 golds 1 silver and 5 bronzes = 9medals..  per capita we came 5th.

Am from Singapore and this is the best Olympics so far in 48 years! We managed to get 1 silver in table tennis. :)

It ended up being the opposite :(

We had 17 athletes that were ranked in the top 3 in the world in their respective fields.

To me to come away with 9 medals is OK. We sent a team of 182 athletes from a country of 4 million which is by far the largest contingent of any country of this size. We should of done much better than the 9 medals we got. between 10-14 medals.

6/10 for over all performance.  But we do as always punch above our weight in sports.

Im sure we can improve this coming London.

I am from India.This is India's best Olympics ever winning 3 medals (1 gold and 2 bronze) in 108 years.Inspite of non-existent sports system,India did well to be in top 50 and this can open eyes of Indian government which always neglected sports.

The USA.

Dara Torres went to an official poolside and asked them to hold up the finals of the 50m freestyle so that a competitor who had ripped her suit could change.

Michael Phelps stepped aside so that Ian Crocker could be part of the 4x100m freestyle medley relay team, offering Crocker a final chance at gold.

Lolo Jones hit the 7th hurdle and lost a gold medal. As she was talking with the press, making no excuses, not complaining, she congratulated the winners as they walked passed her saying things like, "Good job sweetie."

Alicia Sacramone and Shawn Johnson smiled and congratulated their opponents and opposing coaches, never once complaining about the judging or underage Chinese gymnast bruhaha.

Misty May-Treynor and Kerri Walsh went out of their way to slap hands with some of their comptetitors as they switched sides of the net.

Overall, I'd say we did alright....

Upsets: softball and baseball teams,gymnast team final, track and field

It wasnt our best games. Some unexpacted results.

The real measure is to divide the population of your country by the number of medlas won to gain a medal per capita result. Or divide the number of medals by GNP to see the cost of each medal.
