It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it.

  1. its just like saying a human being doesnt get corrupt becuase they have power, they get corrupt becuase they dont want to loose the power. they turn corrupt becuase they are scared of losing power

  2. Fear of losing power is what corrupts or screws with the mind of those who have it. They become so indulged and obsessive in their power, that they sometimes begin to use it for evil. It is the fear of the mishandling of the power of those who are under the rule of this authority figure that corrupts the minds of these lower-class citizens.

Say, for example, a new monarch takes the throne in a far off island. The people of the island begin to criticize this new power figure for wrong decisions, and he fears what might eventually happen to him (impeachment). This fear corrupts his mind into believing he now must use his power to keep his spot on the throne, regardless of if these uses are evil. What corrupts the citizens criticizing the monarch is the fear of exactly what will happen, the misuse of his power for evil things.

I might of made this even more confusing, but I hope I helped...
