  1. If you go to Wilkapedia, or even the Yahoo Search Engine, you can ask for race and find out what that represents.  Ask for culture, and find out what that stands for.  And very frankly, I think that is the very best idea.  I looked, and everything I saw was reputable.

    Hispanic is, by the way, a culture.  Not a race.

    adj.

       1. Of or relating to Spain or Spanish-speaking Latin America.

       2. Of or relating to a Spanish-speaking people or culture.

    n.

       1. A Spanish-speaking person.

       2. A U.S. citizen or resident of Latin-American or Spanish descent.

    ======================

    Hispanic is a culture and there are many, many races that are part of that culture.  Look at the groups that speak Spanish, and you then have some idea of how many races are in the Hispanic Culture.

  2. Race is easy...white , black, hispanic.

    Culture though is about mores, histories, preferences, food, etc.

    Black people can be from Africa or the US for example.

    But their cultures are very very different.

    Think hip hop.  Then think tribal drums.

    Single race.  Multiple cultures.

  3. You are born of a certain race, but culture is learned through interaction with other members of that culture (as dirty martini explained).

    So being multi-racial only tells you that there people of various races within that society- it tells you nothing of their behavior. A multi-cultural society suggests that the national culture (for example) is made up of various subcultures who have differing cultural norms.

  4. The Dirty M is right they are now classified as a race. But I prefer the Native Americans classification of 4 races because it makes the most sense. You have white, black, red and yellow which is seen  on their clothing and writings. Anyway, whites- Caucasians- have several different cultures including Spanish. Blacks the same. Reds- Native Americans or Amerindians cover many different cultures as do the yellow- Asians. Within these cultures are subcultures which are reflections of the area they reside in or from. I.E. A native of China though Asian is different culturally from an Asian from Laos. Language, dress, customs vary depending on the subculture.
