Can you explain the movement of salt and water molecules in and out pf the tomato cells?

  1. Water will move in and out of a tomato cell by the process of osmosis.  The salt will not go in or out.  The salt is called the solute and its concentration runs the process of osmosis.  If there is more of a salt concentration inside the cell than outside the water will enter the cell making it swell.  If the opposite occurs then the water will leave the cell, shrinking its contents.  The only way salt can enter the cell is via active transport.
