Can you explain this joke to me please?

Two nuns in the bath, one says to the other 'could you pass the soap please' the other says 'it does rather doesn't it'...

I don't get it!

I think the first person means rater as in LATHER, rinse, repeat.

Uhm, I think it's supposed to be "Where's the soap?" not "Could you pass the soap please?" Coz there were a lot of people asking this a while ago..
